WHY WE LIKE IT? Set on the banks of the magnificent Zambezi River, you never actually need to leave your room, with a constant stream of visitors coming to you!

HOW TO GET THERE? Daily flight from Johannesburg and now Cape Town to Vic Falls. Daily scheduled flights from Vic Falls into Mana Pools.

SPECIAL INTEREST: Mana Pools is absolute paradise, the scenes along the Zambezi never disappoint.

Ruckomechi is only open from June till mid November, the heavy summer rains leave the camp inaccessible outside of this period.

The later you go in the season, the dryer it will be and the more animals you will see along the banks of the Zambezi. Having said this, its incredible to visit any time, its up there with our favourite camps on the continent.

Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views. The area offers large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted.

Greater kudu, Burchell’s zebra, impala, warthog and common waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Birdlife is superb, with numerous local specials like collared palm-thrush and racket-tailed roller.
