Linkwasha Camp is situated in a private concession in the best location in Hwange National Park. The camp is located near the famed Ngamo Plains, which offers fantastic game viewing year-round – to add to the already excellent viewing from the camp itself; Linkwasha overlooks a pan that is a magnet for game.
The fresh, open and airy design of the camp is complemented by an eclectic mix of contemporary interiors. The nine luxurious en-suite tents (eight twin and one family) all offer uninterrupted views of the scenic plain, while the main area includes various multi-level decks and a cosy winter lounge complete with fireplace and library. Shaded salas surround an inviting pool.
Activities include day and night game drives in open 4×4 vehicles and morning nature walks. A visit to the local village offers guests authentic insight into the lives of the people living on the edge of the Park. A sleep out in a Star Bed overlooking a productive waterhole rounds off the experience.
HOW TO GET THERE? Daily flight from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Victoria Falls. Daily scheduled flights from Victoria Falls into Linkwasha.
SPECIAL INTEREST: Elephant photography, arguably the best place in Africa to photograph and view elephants.
If we were forced to list our best time, then it would be June, July or August when the flood water is high and it condenses the animals onto the shrinking dry land.
But its also a lot cheaper during the green season and you still won’t leave disappointed.
Mombo on a bad day is the equivalent of many other camps good days!
The large open clearings make spotting the big cats and predators much easier and if you aren’t having luck there is always something going on around the waterholes.
“Just over a week into my safari and I wonder how I’ve changed, if at all. Certainly the experiences I’ve had and things I’ve seen have shaped me in someway. But then, as if by some ancient, unspeakable memory, I remember… it’s in my blood.”
