A proud history of conservation & unrivalled beauty

Known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills,” Rwanda is a green, undulating land of hills, gardens and tea plantations. Along with its spectacular scenery, Rwanda has a unique gift to offer: it is home to one third of the world’s remaining population of Mountain Gorillas.

As if this were not enough, it also boasts one third of Africa’s bird species, several other species of primate, volcanoes, game reserves, resorts and islands on the expansive lake Kivu, graceful dancers, artistic crafts and friendly people. Despite a decade of war and environmental devastation, Rwanda has made a remarkable recovery, and now continues to honour its long, proud history of conservation.

Rwanda has gone through an incredible transformation and is now very safe to visit.

The gorilla trek experience is just one of the fantastic experiences on offer and as a country, Rwanda is a surprising and inspiring destination for a holiday, not least because of the remarkable way it has united in the twenty years since it tore itself apart during the horrific genocide against the Tutsis of 1994. Despite its traumatic history, this is a country that is well worth a visit, its numerous treasures ideal for the adventurous but also for those who wish simply to behold a truly beautiful gem of Africa.
